श्री पी.राजीव, माननीय कानून, उद्योग और कयर मंत्री, केरल सरकार ने एरणाकुलम टाउन हॉल में 2 सितंबर 2024 को आयोजित विश्व नारियल दिवस समारोह के उद्घाटन कार्यक्रम के दौरान सभा को संबोधित करते हुए आह्वान किया कि नारियल से परंपरागत उत्पादों के साथ साथ विविध प्रकार के मूल्यवर्धित उत्पाद तैयार करने हेतु समन्वित प्रयास करें। केरल नारियल और नारियल उत्पादों का प्रमुख उत्पादक  है, मुख्यत: नारियल तेल का। नारियल से कई प्रकार के नवाचारी उत्पादों जैसेकि नारियल चिप्स, नेटा डि कोको आदि  के उत्पादन में तेज़ प्रगति  हुई है, जिनके लिए देशीय और विदेशी बाज़ारों में भारी संभावनाएं हैं। हमें इस प्रकार के विविधीकृत उत्पादों के उत्पादन के लिए लघु पैमाने के उद्योगों को बढ़ावा देने की आवश्यकता है। केरल सरकार और नारियल विकास बोर्ड की योजनाओं का समवाय करने से नारियल क्षेत्र में उद्यमियों को उच्च कोटि का समर्थन प्रदान करने में सहायता मिलेगी। बोर्ड, केरल कृषि विश्वविद्यालय और राज्य कृषि विभाग को नारियल के प्रमुख कीटों और रोगों के प्रबंधन हेतु उपयुक्त प्रौद्योगिकी विकसित करने के लिए कार्य करना चाहिए।

केरल सरकार ने केरल के लिए एक ब्रांड विकसित करने हेतु पहल की है और इस प्रक्रिया की शुरुआत नारियल तेल से की गई है जो कि केरल का परंपरागत उत्पाद है। केरल का अपना ब्रांड ‘नन्मा’ का उपयोग करने के लिए 6 नारियल तेल प्रसंस्करण इकाईयों को प्रमाणित किया गया है और ये अब बाज़ार में उपलब्ध है। ऐसी प्रसंस्करण इकाइयां पूरी तरह से केरल से ही अपनी कच्ची सामग्रियों का प्रापण करती हैं। माननीय मंत्री ने सूचित किया कि कुट्याटी में कोकनट पार्क बहुत जल्द ही चालू होगा और यह अवश्य राज्य में नारियल क्षेत्र की संभावनाएं सुधार देगा।

एरणाकुलम के माननीय विधायक श्री टी.जे.विनोद ने नारियल क्षेत्र में किसानों द्वारा सामना की जा रही समस्याओं का समाधान करने की आवश्यकता पर ज़ोर दिया। उन्होंने कहा  कि नारियल क्षेत्र के सुस्थिर विकास के लिए तदनुकूल कार्यक्रमों को कार्यान्वित करने की  आवश्यकता  है। नियमित अंतराल में कार्यक्रमों को आयोजित किया जाना चाहिए जो नारियल प्रसंस्करण और मूल्यवर्धन में अधिकाधिक उद्यमियों को आकर्षित करने के लिए मंच प्रदान करेगा। नारियल खेती को  एक लाभदायक उद्यम के रूप में उभरना होगा ताकि युवाओं को खेती की ओर आकर्षित किया जा सके। माननीय मंत्री श्री पी.राजीव ने बोर्ड की हिंदी गृह पत्रिका केरा भारती और बोर्ड की योजनाओं पर एक ब्रोशर का लोकार्पण किया। मंत्री जी ने समारोह के सिलसिले में सम्मेलन स्थान पर आयोजित प्रदर्शनी का भी उद्घाटन किया।

दक्षिण भारत के प्रमुख राज्यों से 500 से अधिक प्रगतिशील किसानों, उद्यमियों, प्रसंस्करणकर्ताओं और राज्य कृषि विभाग एवं नारियल विकास बोर्ड के पदाधिकारियों ने कार्यक्रम में भाग लिया। नारियल खेती और पौधा संरक्षण, मूल्य वर्धन, बाज़ार संवर्धन और निर्यात आदि विषयों पर तकनीकी सत्र भी संपन्न हुआ।  इस अवसर पर चलाई गई प्रश्नोत्तरी प्रतियोगिता के पुरस्कार विजेताओं को माननीय मंत्री श्री पी.राजीव ने पुरस्कार वितरित किए।

डा.बी.हनुमंते गौडा, मुख्य नारियल विकास अधिकारी, नाविबो ने सभा का स्वागत किया और विश्व नारियल दिवस की संगतता एवं नारियल क्षेत्र के टिकाऊ विकास के लिए बोर्ड द्वारा की जा रही गतिविधियों पर संक्षित विवरण दिया। श्रीमती दीप्ति नायर एस., निदेशक, नाविबो ने धन्यवाद ज्ञापित किया।

The Hon’ble Minister Shri.P. Rajeev called for concerted efforts towards the development of diversified value added products from coconut along with the traditional products during the inaugural programme of the World Coconut Day Celebrations organised at Ernakulam Town Hall on 2^nd September 2024.

Kerala is a major producer of coconut and its products, predominantly coconut oil. There is a surge of many innovative products from coconut like coconut chips, nata-de-coco etc which offer huge potential in the domestic and global markets. We need to promote small scale industry for the production of such diversified products. Convergence of the schemes of the Government of Kerala and Coconut Development Board will help in extending quality support to entrepreneurs in the coconut sector. The Board, Kerala Agricultural University and the State Agriculture Department should work towards developing suitable technology for the management of the major pests and diseases in coconut.

Government of Kerala has started an initiative for the development of a brand for Kerala and the process was started with coconut oil, which is the traditional product of Kerala. Around 6 coconut oil processing units have been certified for the use of the Kerala Brand ‘Nanma’ which are now available in the market.  Such processing units source their raw material exclusively from Kerala. The Hon. Minister also informed that the Coconut Park at Kuttiadi will be functional soon and this is bound to improve the prospects for coconut sector in the state.

The Hon’ble MLA Enakulam, Shri. T.J. Vinod stressed on the need to address the issues faced by the farmers in the coconut sector. Tailor-made programmes for the sustained development of the coconut sector need to be implemented. Programmes should be organised at regular intervals which will form the forum for attracting more entrepreneurs into coconut processing and value addition. Coconut cultivation has to emerge as a profitable enterprise in order to attract the youth into farming.

The Hon’ble Minister Shri. P.Rajeev released Kera Bharathi, the in-house hindi journal of the Board and a brochure on the schemes of the Board.  The Minister also inaugurated the exhibition organised alongside the event.

More than 500 progressive farmers from the major South Indian states, entrepreneurs, processors, officials from the State Department of Agriculture and Coconut Development Board, etc attended the programme. Technical sessions on coconut cultivation and plant protection, value addition, market promotion and export etc were also held. Prizes for the winners of the quiz competition held the same day were distributed by the Hon. Minister Shri. P. Rajeev.

Shri. Hanumanthe Gowda, Chief Coconut Development Officer, CDB welcomed the dignitaries and participants and gave a brief account of the relevance of World Coconut Day and the activities undertaken by the Board for the sustained development of the sector.
